Here's a book

I finished reading a book today.

It's called "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison.
By right... i would not have read it if i saw it in a bookstore, but this was part of my Literature texts so i felt inclined to read it haha.

Okay, so this book is really complex in the beginning: something about form and imagery yadayada.

But in the end i find that it really does make sense and it's actually very interesting. It does have some unfortunate scenes though.... =.= of sex.
WHY DO ALL MY LIT TEXTS HAVE SEX SCENES IN THEM!?!!

haha so back to the main point -> This book is great, EVERYONE GO READ IT!
it talks about the black community in general and addresses themes like how Whiteness(being white) has become a standard of beauty and how the implications of thinking that whites are superior has resulted in the deformation of the lives of black women.

Something really interesting for me was actually the point in the story of which the title of the book can be said to be derived from.
The protagonist, Percola, constantly wishes for blue eyes, a characteristic of "being white", believing that if she had those eyes, people would be nicer to her and not want to do "ugly things" (bully her, hit women) in front of her. Pecola’s desire for blue eyes, while highly unrealistic, is based on one correct insight into her world: she believes that the cruelty she witnesses and experiences is connected to how she is seen.

Right and so i am now babbling haha.

OK.
1. read the book.
2. if you can't change the world, then change the way you look at the world^^
